Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why Home Study?
Online education is booming in all fields. Whether it be on a college level, for professionals taking continuing education courses, or traffic school, almost everyone is educating themselves online.

2. Price matching policy
We will make a one time match on any lower price that you have found in the same county courthouse listing, within 60 days of your initial payment. Please send us a link to the web site showing the lower price to tim@idealtrafficschool.com so we can verify it and then, within five business days, we will automatically refund the difference back to your credit card through Paypal. Hope you enjoy the lowest price ever!

3. How can I find out if I qualify for traffic school?
Each court is different and has its own guidelines. It is best to contact the court in which your ticket is pending and ask if you are eligible for traffic school.

The Court:

4. Will my county and court accept your course and exam?
See our list of approved counties and courts.

5. The site says my court is not approved. Can I still take your course?
Although IdealTrafficSchool.com may not have a formal agreement with your court, many courts throughout the country have accepted IdealTrafficSchool.com on a special request/approval basis. You may request special permission to your court to complete your traffic school requirements using our program and you may register for the course in advance. Once IdealTrafficSchool.com receives a faxed or mailed copy of a letter from the court, on court letterhead, specifically granting you permission to take "IdealTrafficSchool.com". We will grant you access to the course. Remember: It is your responsibility to insure that your court will accept IdealTrafficSchool.com's program. If your court is not approved and you do not get special permission your court will not accept our Certificate of Completion.

6. Do I have to enter the court that is handling my ticket?
It is extremely important that students enter the correct issuing Court when they register. This will ensure that the appropriate final examination is given and that the Certificate is sent to the proper Court. Otherwise, it is possible to end up with a point on the DMV record and an increase in insurance.

7. How does the court get my certificate?
When the course is completed, your certificate of completion will be mailed directly to the court within 2-3 days by NIS company (Third party test provider). If you have any questions in regards to your certificate of completion or if you want to request next day certificate delivery, contact NIS at (888) 647-3926.

Your Certificate of Completion:

8. Can IdealTrafficSchool.com back date a Certificate of Completion?
We cannot back date any Certificates of Completion for any reason. All Certificates will be issued as of the date a student successfully passes the final examination. In the case of lost Certificates, we will issue duplicates but they will contain the date the student originally passed the final.

Registering For The Course:

9. When should I enroll with IdealTrafficSchool.com?
The court will give you a completion date, which is the date by which you must submit the completion certificate. However, it is best to complete the class sooner than the date in case the court makes a mistake. That way you will have time to correct the problem before the court erroneously puts the ticket on your record.

10. If I did not register within 5 business days after my court date, can I still take this course?
The courts are keen to get you started as soon as possible, so they recommend that you register within 5 business days. Unless your court expiration date for completion has arrived, you can register with idealtrafficschool.com. Please keep in mind, however, the amount of time it will take for you to complete the course, receive your Certificate of Completion, and forward it on to the court. We can help with express and overnight delivery options, but only you know how long it will take you to complete the course.

11. Do I have to go to some classes in person?
You can complete the course requirement online. That is the nice thing about the online traffic school course. It can be taken wherever you have access to the Web.

12. How much time do I have to complete the course once I've paid for my ticket?
You should make every attempt to complete your online traffic school course at least a couple days before your due date. Your court will give you ample time (generally 30-90 days) to complete your traffic school, but we recommend finishing your course as soon as possible. If your due date is soon approaching, we offer overnight mailing service for your certificate for an additional charge. You may request this option when you completed your final exams course.

13. My due date for completion is tomorrow; can I still finish in time?
If you successfully finish your final exam today before 3 PM (PST) and have selected the Next Day Air option for mailing your certificate, and then are willing to get it to court, then you may manage to finish in time. However, we do not recommend that you wait this long to finish. Provide a 4-5 day minimum cushion to give you time to complete the entire process. Additionally, if you are unable to complete by the deadline, you may go to the court and ask for an extension (which may or may not be granted). Some courts allow the postmark to count for the due date, and others grant a grace period. Do not assume this is the case, however. Check with your particular court.

14. I am past the due date for completing traffic school, what can I do?
You should go to the court and request an extension. Be prepared to set a firm date for completion. The court may or may not grant your request.

Taking The Course:

15. Once I start the course do I have to stay logged on until I finish?
Not if you don’t want to stay online. You may log off and resume the course on another day if you wish.

16. Must I have access to the Internet to take the course?
You don’t have to personally have Internet access, but you must use a computer that has access to the Internet, either a friend’s computer or one at the library.

17. What do I do if I need more time to complete the course?
You should go to the court and request an extension. Be prepared to set a firm date for completion. The court may or may not grant your request.

18. How long will it take me to complete the course?
All home study traffic school programs must cover the exact same material that you would have received if you had attended a regular classroom traffic school, in order to be approved by the court. The classroom traffic schools must cover 400 minutes (6 hours and 40 minutes) of instructional material, based on the 6th grader's reading comprehensions, by following a DMV curriculum outline. Home study programs must cover that same material as well, in order to be Court Approved. So, if you can read faster then a 6th grader, most likely you will be able to finish the course in less than 6 hours.

All traffic schools including classroom, home study or Internet courses will charge separate additional fees.

Once you submit a quiz for grading, you will immediately be told whether you passed or failed the quiz. If you pass, a screen will come up congratulating you and inviting you to move on to the next section. If you fail, a screen will pop up telling you that you failed to get a minimum score to pass, and you will be redirected to the top of the chapter over which you are being quizzed so that you can read and take notes more carefully.

30. Why are there required questions in the quizzes that don’t deal with traffic safety?
